    • Why?

Artist Statement / Why I make these works.

      Whimsical drawings

Do you remember when someone said something to you that you have never forgotten? The passing adage a stranger said that you always remember, or that day you couldn't stop laughing with a close friend?

The creatures in my work explore these interactions, the universe, and what their purpose is. Just like all humans, they want to be loved and safe; no matter their background.

They are curious and explore relationships we have with friends, strangers, ourselves, and the world. Sometimes they are lost, sometimes they are anxious, sometimes angry at terminal illness, but in the end, they present a sense of curiosity and hope. I want the viewer to have a connection with these creatures; to identify with feelings of discomfort, times they were awkward, vulnerable or learning, but then remember the positive outcome afterward (or what they learned from it).
